ADULT GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES

ARTHRITIS
Enjoy the therapeutic benefits of our warm water pool and improve your social and physical wellness.  The YMCA of the USA and American Arthritis Foundation joined together to create this low impact water recreational exercise program for people with arthritis.  It is not necessary to know how to swim.

 

AQUA-X
Through the natural resistance of water, Aqua-x strengthens and tones muscles, reduces muscle soreness, enhances circulation, and promotes flexibility.  It's an energetic, high-intensity water fitness class.  Class is designed for all swim levels to target all of the muscles.  Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.  Drop-in is available.


BARRE FABULOUS FITNESS - NOT OFFERED AT THIS TIME - 
Ballet Barre Fabulous Fitness will be your new best friend!  One of today's hottest fitness trends, ballet barre workouts are designed to give participants a long, lean, dancer-like physique.  Most exercises are done at a ballet bar (or back of chair) and combine elements of Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga.  Using bodyweight for resistance, the moves will challenge your core stability and balance.  Small toning balls, light hand weights and bands may be used for added resistance.  Toe socks are recommended.



BEGINNING PILATES
Our beginning Pilates is a core training class which improves strength, balance, and flexibility of the muscles that control the trunk and spine.  Energize your day with Pilates movement and breathing exercises that will develop a strong mind and body connection.

BOOT CAMP
Push yourself to your limits in this advanced intensive level class.  This drill-style class is set up in an interval format.  It's a functional training class which emphasizes agility, balance, speed, strength, and endurance.

 

 

CARDIO®
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.  Upper body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is offered for support, head to toe stretching, and complete relaxation in a comfortable position.

 

CARDIO DRUMS
Using a Fitball elevated on a bucket and an actual pair of drumsticks, lay down your own beat while bustin' a move to some powerful music.  It's a great full body workout that can be low or high impact!  It's fat burning FUN!  No rhythm required.  Just a willingness to let your inner rock star out!


CARDIO STEP
Improve your cardio power with our STEP class.  This intense, low-impact cardio class will also include some upper body resistance exercises to get a whole-body workout. You'll be the beneficiary of increased aerobic capacity, improved weight management, better balance and a stronger core.  Our cardio step class will help you burn calories and fat.  It will also help reduce stress, promote restful sleep, strengthen muscles and give the whole body a more streamline look.


CLASSIC®
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

 

Y CORPORATE WELLNESS PROGRAM

CYCLING
Settle in for the ride of your life!  You choose your own workout level in this popular non-impact indoor cycling class.  Our LeMond REVMASTER SPORT Bikes allow a cardiovascular workout that's easy on the feet and knees while allowing a high intensity of exercise.  Keep track of your heart rate and calories burnt during your workout by easily syncing your personal heart rate monitor with the on-bike apparatus.  Once a week won't be enough!  Add a mix days/times to fit your schedule!  Daily drop-in available, based on equipment availability.


 

DYNAMIC (HATHA) YOGA
Free your spirit, calm your mind, and stretch your body through a variety of styles.  Practice motions to increase your strength, balance and flexibility, while focusing on form, breathing and serenity within yourself.  Lengthen, strengthen, and relaxation are the 3 elements of this dynamic yoga program.  Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced poses are demonstrated with our certified and insured instructors.

EASY DOES IT
For adults, in addition to the structured lessons, we also offer pool time set aside for you to come "do it yourself".  This self-instructed class is also a time for you to come build lasting friendships and socialize while working in the water.  It's designed for seniors, those recovering from surgery, and those seeking self-led water exercises to improve range of motion and strength without impact on the joints.  Come enjoy the benefits of water-walking, aqua-jogging or just making new friends.  Space is available in the deep end.  Join the afternoon crowd for an informal water volleyball game in the shallow end!


FIT BALL - NOT OFFERED AT THIS TIME - 
A challenging fit ball class to offer a total body workout.  A great way to strengthen your core, develop power and improve flexibility, muscle tone, balance and coordination.  Come and experience a different way to work out; class may incorporate light weights for a total body workout!

 

FITNESS CENTER ORIENTATION
Strongly recommended for all new members, anyone new to strength and cardiovascular training, and youth 16 years old who wish to use the fitness center.  We will teach you the ways to get the most benefit from your workouts.  By appointment only.


 

GOLDEN ACHIEVERS ORIENTATION
For members 62+ to gain knowledge, ask questions and become familiar with our fitness center.  Strength training is one of the best ways to increase bone density and flexibility; to improve your quality of life.  Recommended to members new to strength and cardiovascular training wishing to use the fitness center.  Let us show you ways to get the most benefit from your workouts.

 

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING
Grab a friend or even two; share a workout and save some money!  Sessions include a FREE fitness assessment ($50 value).  Maximum of three members.  Sessions are one hour each.


HIIT (HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING)
Get shredded by burning fat and building muscle with this full-body workout that utilizes high intensity interval training.  Small bursts of all out exercises are coupled with short recovery periods to fast-track your way to good health and beautiful, strong body.  The magic of HIIT lies in its ability to keep you burning fat even after you leave the gym.  Paired with a smart eating plan, these workouts will have you looking and feeling great in no time!


INJURY RECOVERY / POST REHAB PERSONAL TRAINING
We can help you get back towards pre-injury conditions by picking up where your rehab left off.  One-on-one training to guide you towards exercise and/or nutrition changes you need to continue your recovery.  Our trainers have extended certification addressing special circumstances.  A doctor's release to activity is required BEFORE any training sessions can begin.  Sessions include a FREE fitness assessment ($50 value).

 

KICKBOXING - NOT OFFERED AT THIS TIME - 
Reap the benefits of boxer-style exercise, rounds of intervals and circuit training to blast calories while toning and strengthening your muscles!  This mixed-impact workout will not train you for a fight, but it takes the spirit and physical demands of kickboxing and channels them into a challenging and fun cardiovascular workout that will burn calories like a prize-winning kick boxer.


 

MARTIAL ARTS
Martial arts is a system of learning how to use your body efficiently with the main purpose for self-defense.  The Ryukyu Kempo was developed over centuries of time on the island of Okinawa.  The practice of karate develops speed, balance, strength, and coordination.  As you advance, self-defense techniques are added for your personal protection.  The more advanced is based on Kyusho-jutsu, a system of fighting passed on acupressure.

 

PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal training is a great option for any level of exerciser.  Our trainers can develop plans for those who are new to exercise or those looking for new or different goals and command results.  Take your workouts to the next level.  Our Personal Trainers will help any Y members achieve their fitness goals!  All training sessions include a FREE fitness assessment ($50 value) that includes initial fitness test and goal setting meetings.


PICKLEBALL
Join our group as they introduce this exciting game to our Y!  The United States of America Pickleball Association (USAPA) explains that pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.  Come play on our indoor courts!  No equipment is required to begin; we have some you can use!


PILATES
This class is a core training class which improves strength, balance, and flexibility of the muscles that control the trunk and spine.  Energize your day with Pilates movement and breathing exercises that will develop a strong mind and body connection.

PiYo LIVE®
PiYo Live is a music-driven, athletic workout inspired by the mind/body practices of Pilates and Yoga that also includes flexibility and strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement.  It includes modifications for the group exercise environment yet offers exercise progressions for all levels.  PiYo Live provides improved flexibility, strength, balance, stress reduction and overall fitness level improvement.


 

SPLASH®
Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety!  SilverSplash® offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.  No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kick board is used to develop strength, balance, and coordination.


SUSPENSION TRAINING
Suspension training is a form of resistance training that includes bodyweight exercises in which a variety of multi-planar, compound exercise movements can be performed. These are done with the aim of developing strength, balance, flexibility, and joint stability.  Suspension training develops physical strength while using functional movements and dynamic positions by suspending a person's body weight on a system of ropes and webbing.

 

SWIMNASTICS
Make friends and meet new people!  Swimnastics is a basic level water exercise class that uses the natural buoyancy and resistance of water and equipment to work towards improving participant flexibility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance.

 

TURBO SCULPT
You'll work the major muscle groups of your upper body and lower body during this total body workout-- plus enjoy abdominal work to stabilize and strengthen the core muscle group.  The instructor will lead the class in a variety of exercises using resistance equipment, body weight, stability balls, free weights and more to keep participants engaged and challenged.


 

TURBO KICK
Get hooked on the "Turbo" high.  With cardio kickboxing style and body sculpting dance moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes, you'll get lean and toned -- and have a blast doing it.  It's high intensity, fast-paced and totally addicting.


Y WALKING CLUB
This special program is available for non-members who just want to use our 9-lap mile indoor track.  Lockers are available near the track, but you must provide your own lock.  Walk in clean, dry shoes anytime the Y is open!

 

YOGA®
YogaStretch® will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.  Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement.  Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

WALKING CLUB
This special program is available for members and non-members to keep track of their personal accomplishments walking on our track.  Cards are available at the desk for patrons to self-record their milage.  Club members receive an EXCLUSIVE Walking Club shirt when they reach 100, 500, and 1000 miles!


WATER VOLLEYBALL
Come join in the camaraderie of an informal and fun game of water volleyball!  Stay agile, laugh and make friends all while enjoying the atmosphere of our indoor heated pool.  No skill level required, just willingness to have a good time!
